What is a Delta-Knight?
A Delta-Knight is the third Rank, or “level,” that any Sword Tag participant achieves. Delta-Knights have a functional understanding of Sportsmanship and Cooperation. Delta-Knights seek to understand and demonstrate the values of Integrity and Tenacity. While this is still a lower rank, a Delta-Knight has demonstrated that they understand the nuances of Sword Tag and can be relied on to be safe on the game field. They can also be trusted to be a team-player and a person who will win and lose gracefully. This is the last of the “rule-learning” ranks before a participant moves on towards the Ranks that focus on mentorship.
The rank after Delta-Knight is Cavalier.
How do i become a cavalier?

K1. Squires must attend Lords & Ladies at least three times since they first started.
K2. Knights must know the Intermediate Rules. These rules cover more tag zone rules, how to interact with other participants, courtesy rules, rank colors on boffers, and special rules for certain games. It is common and encouraged that Knights learn these rules from peers.
K3. Being a good follower means listening to the plan in games, listening to others and doing your best to follow the plan. Good followers do not interrupt and if they have a suggestion, they wait their turn. They also play by the rules and work within the set structures and agendas.
Tip: You can print off this checklist as a reference! If you need more details, ask a Marshal or Warden to look at the Ranking Handbook.
A delta-Knight’s Load-out
The following are the load-out rules for what kinds and lengths of boffer a Delta-Knight can use. All boffers that Delta-Knights can use boffers should be marked with yellow tape. They can also use any load-out that any of the Ranks below them may use.

Bigger Swords
A Delta-Knight may wield up to two Swords at the same time that are 32 inches or shorter in length.
All Swords must be compliant with current Sword boffer rules (these can be found on the Basic Sword page).

Single or Dual Axe
A Delta-Knight may wield up to two Axes at the same time that are 26 inches or shorter in length.
All Axes must be compliant with current Axe boffer rules (these can be found on the Basic Axe page).

What are the Rank-up requirements?
- Identify what the higher Ranks are and what these Rank requirements are (in broad terms)
- Demonstrate a thorough understanding of the rules as well as understanding and acting on the difference between the spirit and the letter of the rules. This goes for instructions from Marshals, Wardens, and team leaders as well.
- Attend minimum of 3 sessions after your prior rank up. These sessions do not need to be consecutive.
What do the higher Ranks look for?
- Does the Delta-Knight cheat? Do they “take their shots” when another participant tags them?
- Does the Delta-Knight try and find loopholes in the rules of the games, boffers, and Ranks? Or do they respect the spirit of the rules?
- Does the Delta-Knight give up after losing, or do they keep playing and trying even when things are not going their way?
- Does the Delta-Knight continue to try and play, even when they have been tagged on multiple limbs?
- Does the Delta-Knight continue to pursue ranking up even though they may have been discouraged?
