Double-Ended Staff blueprint

double-ended staff Rules
Staff boffers are long single wield boffers that are used exclusively by the Noble ranks (Dragoon, Lancer, and Sentinel) or Marshals. The double-ended staff is a long, single wield only boffer that has a “sword blade” on each end. The “thumpers” on each end are shorter than those of its counterpart, the Single-Ended Staff. The table below covers the allowable lengths and wielding requirements by rank:
Rank | Squire | Knight | D. Knight | Cavalier | Dragoon | Lancer | Sentinel |
Band Color* | Red | Orange | Yellow | Green | Blue | Purple | Pink |
Max Length | – | – | – | – | 48 – 50″ | 50 – 56″ | 56 – 62″ |
Thumper Length | – | – | – | – | 12 – 13″ | 12 – 15″ | 12 – 17″ |
Wielding** | – | – | – | – | Single | Single | Single |
*This is the rank of the boffer, not the player. A player can always use a lower rank’s equipment.
**”Dual” means that the boffer can be used with another boffer, if the player’s rank permits and so long as the loadout does not exceed 6 feet in length. “Single” means that the boffer can only be wielded alone.
In addition to the rules outlined in the above blueprint and table:
- The haft or core of this boffer shall consist of a single piece of ¾ inch schedule 40 PVC pipe. No splices are allowed.
- Both “blades” shall have at least ¾ inch closed cell foam at the Thrusting Tips. The blades or “thumpers” should be at least 2 ½ inches in diameter and are allowed to be up to 4 inches in diameter.
- Courtesy foam shall be placed as shown in the blueprint above and shall reach from where the thumper ends to a point 1/3 of the way from the thrusting tip of that thumper to the opposite thrusting tip. Marshals should give 2 inches “wiggle room” on this. In any case, there should be at least 2 inches of courtesy foam at the base of each thumper.
- Rank bands should be placed as shown in the blueprint above.
